James Allen Cushion Cut Diamonds

Hello Liz,

After almost close to 20 years of marriage I’m finally shopping James Allen cushion cut diamonds! I have a loose diamond budget of $3,500 and have already picked out a setting. It would probably be best for me to get a stone from James Allen as well.

Therefore, I need to limit my search to James Allen cushion cut diamonds only. I love the cushion cut diamonds that you describe in your ‘How To Buy Cushion Cut Diamonds‘ article and am definitely not a fan of the crushed ice look.

I wish I had an unlimited budget, but I do want to find the most beautiful James Allen cushion cut diamond that I can and am willing to go under the 1.00ct mark if I have to.

If you have any suggestions I would be very open to them!

This cushion is simply stunning. Check out the magnified image and HD video. See how the dark contrast areas are symmetrical and make the white light reflection really pop? This is indicative of a great cut. Absolutely no crushed ice in this one. Girdle is medium to thick which is great, and there is no blue fluorescence. This ‘I’ is super bright and faces up great for it’s carat weight with dimensions of: 5.95mmx5.48mm. Super clean VVS2, what’s not to love with this beautiful, perfect 1.01ct?

This cushion is very unique because of the high crown and deeper pavilion. The cut on this cushion is more reminiscent of the early 19th century cushions which show off larger chunks of white light reflection. It is absolutely stunning; the HD video shows how much life is in this cushion! It is just under a carat and therefore you get to save significant cash because of it. This cushion faces up slightly smaller at 5.38mmx4.96mm, but the light performance is outstanding. It’s a real sparkler!

As you probably know, cushions have the widest variance in terms of looks/styles so there are many options to choose from. I think these two are great options; one more modern looking and the other more traditional.
