Liz Hancock – Founder of ODBA

Welcome to ODBA ‘Where Cut Is Queen’. My name is Liz Hancock and my aim for you is to get informed, learn what to look for, and invest in a quality diamond that offers great value for money.

I created ODBA (Onlinediamondbuyingadvice.com) in January of 2012 after my husband revealed his difficulty sourcing a diamond from a credible source before we were engaged. He eventually did make a great decision but after much heartache from a diamond deal gone wrong.

I knew that diamond buying shouldn’t be so difficult and I wanted to help others avoid the same novice mistakes. At the time we were living in the UK and I enrolled in London’s Gem-A to obtain my DGA (diamond diploma) which stands as one of the most comprehensive and valuable diamond qualifications worldwide.

ODBA Supports Transparent Ethical Diamond Selling

There is a need for greater transparency and responsibility within the diamond trade. Wholesalers and retailers have long taken advantage of their inner diamond knowledge and purposely kept the public in the dark on advanced diamond buying practices.

However, this is all changing with more and more retailers selling their diamonds online vs in diamond districts or jewelry stores. With a wider audience comes more discerning customers and thus the need for greater transparency and ethical selling practices.

You wouldn’t buy a house without an inspection. Likewise, why buy a diamond without a professional evaluation?
