Brian Gavin Hearts and Arrow Diamonds

Q:

Hello Liz,

Thanks in advance for your help. Budget is around $10k. I want a single solitaire on gold band around a 1.30ct to 1.60ct carat. Cut is the most important for me so would like to go with Brian Gavin H&A diamonds.

Can you give me guidance on whether going with a K color but a better clarity like this diamond: 1.561ct K VS2 would be preferable over better color with lower clarity like these two at I color and SI1:? 1.572ct I SI1 and 1.394ct I SI2.

I am assuming eye-clean in this scenerio.

Thanks,

Jessica

Hi Jessica,

Thanks for letting me know your budget and what you are looking for.

The 1.561ct K VS2 is a great diamond. I see no reason not to recommend it. Light performance is superb and hearts and arrows optical symmetry is perfect. Grade making inclusion for this VS2 is a feather just under the main table facet, though this will not be visible without magnification.

Unfortunately, the 1.394ct I SI2’s inclusion is much too big for my personal taste. The crystal inclusion under the main table facet will be visible. As you are setting your diamond in a yellow gold setting, I think the ‘K’ color will be perfectly fine. I even have a cushion hearts and arrows that is a K and it’s set in a platinum setting. It doesn’t look warm at all. Here’s the link in case you want to see it up close: https://www.onlinediamondbuyingadvice.com/cushion-cut-diamond/

Let me know if you have any questions! 🙂

Best,

Liz

Thanks, this is amazing! Much appreciated! After some back and forth deliberation, I think the lowest color I want to go is “I”. Any thoughts on these – from the pics the inclusions look obvious to me, but I’m no expert.

1.357ct I SI2 and 1.323ct H SI2

Hi Jess,

You are very welcome. I can understand limiting your search to ‘I’ and above. Some people are just more color sensitive than others.

I took a look at both the BGD’s you linked to and I prefer the 1.323ct H SI2 for $9,584.00

1.323ct H SI2 Brian Gavin Hearts and Arrow Diamond

Finding an eye-clean SI2 clarity diamond is like finding a needle in a haystack. This super-ideal H&A diamond from BGD represents a fantastic value.

The grade making inclusions in this SI2 are small scattered feathers which are not visible to the unaided eye. This SI2 is a fantastic example of an eye-clean SI2! If you like the BGD 1.323ct, I would at least put it on hold to mull it over for 24 hours because their inventory tends to go very fast.

I hope this helps!

Liz
