$25K Tiffany Style Ring Setting

Q:

Hi Liz,

I’m hoping to buy a 1.5-2ct round brilliant diamond for an engagement ring. If possible, I’d like to get a recommendation for two tiers of diamonds to compare: 1) ideal cut, closer to 2ct, but perhaps at a lower color and clarity; and 2) closer to 1.5ct ideal cut with better color and clarity. I’d like to keep the budget under $25K. My girlfriend prefers a Tiffany-style setting in platinum (slender band with a raised 6-prong claw). Who else offers bands that approximate this style without the premium charge?

Thanks

Will

Hello Will,

Here is a 2.182ct I SI1 for $24,469.00: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/2.226-j-si1-round-diamond-ags-104068814002

A beautiful super-ideal H&A diamond from BGD. This SI1 is eye-clean and has fantastic light performance and optical symmetry. A beautiful choice.

Here is a 1.61ct E VVS2 for $23,829.00: http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-61-Carat-E-color-GIA-certified/D-Z15N25

A GIA triple Excellent with gorgeous ‘E’ color and super clean VVS2 clarity grade. See video on Ritani’s website to see how this diamond catches the light and sparkles!

Both diamonds are a great choice. As for the setting, you are definitely going to save money if you purchase anywhere BUT Tiffany’s. Tiffany has a huge mark-up on their jewelry due to brand awareness. However, if you are looking for a great Tiffany style ring setting, you can opt for this platinum classic Tiffany knife edge. This six prong Tiffany-style solitaire is designed by diamond connoisseur Brian Gavin. The crown dips low enough to show off the center stone diamond without compromising the security of the stone. This ring exudes luxury and elegant simplicity.

However, if you prefer the diamond from Ritani, then you can ask to work with their design team to create a similar version of Tiffany’s classic 6 prong solitaire. Here’s a link to their custom ring creation page: http://www.ritani.com/design-your-own-engagement-ring/services

Please let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Liz

Thanks Liz!

I know that the 2.182ct offers a great cut diamond for a great price but there is just something about that 1.61ct from Ritani that has really got my attention. I love the fact that the specs are all such high quality, and yes I do know I’m paying for them. Thanks Liz!
