Bezel Set Engagement Rings

Should I Consider A Slightly Larger Diamond With Better Clarity With This Bezel Set Engagement Ring?

Q:

Hello Liz,

We are finally upgrading my ring and have found a setting that I love very much. Just now need to select a high quality, lovely diamond for it! I have been looking at the Brain Gavin website, and would prefer something in the D-F color range, signature series, for .7 to .9 carats. Leaning towards .7 side due to cost. $4,500 is the max, less if possible, but don’t want to sacrifice quality as this is the only time I will be upgrading. Do not wish to get a diamond with fluorescence. Do not want to be able to see any inclusions with the naked eye. Seem to have a sensitive eye… Am leaning towards Brian Gavin CAGS-104062910017.

Can you offer any insight or opinion on this diamond, or offer any suggestions for a better option from Brian Gavin? Am hesitant to make the purchase due to sight unseen with on-line purchase. Thank you for your time. Your postings have been very helpful in my diamond search.

Thanks again.

Carry

Hello Carry,

Congratulations on your diamond upgrading! Just to confirm, we are speaking about this diamond?: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.728-e-vs2-round-diamond-ags-c-104062910017

A very beautiful .728ct E VS2 that is perfectly eye-clean. Optical symmetry with the hearts and arrows is perfect. Overall a very lovely stone. I’ve searched through the rest of their available diamond inventory and it looks like that is the best fit for your requirements. I like the cut and clarity for the carat weight and price.

You don’t have anything to worry about as far as Brian Gavin Diamonds goes. They are an ethical diamond vendor that sells only the highest cut quality diamonds online. You’ll be very happy with your purchase; believe me!

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Kind Regards,

Liz

Q:

Yes, that is the one! Thank you so much for taking a look at it Liz. I really like the Sholdt setting below. I know that all bezel set engagement rings from BGD are non-returnable, and the diamond cannot be changed out at a later time, unless the measurements are the exact same.

As a result, wanted to see if you think I should consider something slightly larger, with better clarity, VS1 or better, spending up to $1K more, max of $6K, since this will it-it. Or in this setting, is it really not worth the extra. Am a little concerned that you can see some marks on the hearts view, but was informed that this is probably dust. My current diamond has a visible inclusion, and this bothers me to no end 🙂

I welcome your thoughts!!

Thank you very much,

Carry

Hello Carry,

I don’t think you have anything to worry about. That .728ct E VS2 is a very clean VS2. There is a very tiny feather and an infinitesimal crystal under the table facet, but honestly these are very very small. It is only because of the amount of small inclusions that this stone was given a VS2 grade. It is borderline VS1. Even in the magnified image I don’t see any inclusions. You definitely won’t be able to see anything on this stone!

By the way, I love that Sholdt Cora ring that you have chosen. It is very different and will be a perfect compliment to your E VS2.

Kind Regards,

Liz

Thank you once again for your time Liz. I will let BGD know that you were so helpful. I didn’t find their representative to be as helpful as you!

I appreciate your insight.
